Shopping haul

Went shopping this morning in the hopes of finding new skinny jeans. Sadly I failed in that venture. But I did succeed in getting 4 new shirts

On the pole

In the last two months I've begun to take dance classes again. They've been absolutely wonderful for me in the short run (as only a month and a half doesn't really constitute a long run). I'm hoping to keep up with them for quite a while. They're tons of fun, and they help build strength in creative ways. I'm noticing that I'm getting stringer and lasting longer in the warm up, and trying harder and harder things.

Did I mention these dance classes took place in a pole dance studio? I didn't? Oh. Well now you know.

The best part? The shoes. I get to wear my platform Mary-Janes and I don't get funny looks or whispers.

Last night I left the studio feeling tired but extremely happy. My arms were like noodles, and my thighs burned from scraping down and holding myself on the pole. But I was happy! We went over the tricks we knew. My favorite currently is the 'martini girl' which is a basic pole spin but you let your butt drop and point one leg so that it's in line with the bent leg and they make one line. It took me some time to get the hang of it, now it comes easy.

We also tried a 'Peter Pan' or 'fairy' spin where you're basically hanging on to the pole with just your hands. Your body is out from the pole and your legs are swinging behind you as you spin. Your hips should be facing the pole the entire trick. Then we transitioned to a 'chair' spin straight from our 'fairy'. The chair is pretty self explanatory: you spin holding the pole and come up like you're sitting in a chair. It makes a prettier exit to the fairy than just stopping.

My favorite trick of the night I can't remember the name of. Bu we started our like a front leg hook, with our hand slightly lower then reached between the leg on the floor (left) and the leg hooked (right) and grabbed the pole with both hands (sandwiching your hooked leg between your arms) and let momentum take you around while bringing your free leg up behind the pole with the knee bent. Sounds weird but looks really cool. And was okay the first time. But after that it hurt to do. =(.

I also did more of my climbing preparations, where I start to climb but I just hang on and push myself up and then let myself hang to build up strength in my arms. I am noticing it paying off too!!

More in the adventures of pole dancing next week!

untouchable

UNTOUCHABLE

the idea of untouchability is something i could probably talk myself into circles about. . .

-adjective
1. that may not be touched; of a nature such that it cannot be touched; not palpable; intangible.
2. too distant to be touched.
3. vile or loathsome to the touch.
4. beyond criticism, control, or suspicion: Modern writers consider no subject untouchable.
–noun
5. Hinduism. the former name given to a member of a lower caste in India whose touch was believed to defile a high-caste Hindu; Harijan. Compare scheduled caste.
6. a person who is beyond reproach as to honesty, diligence, etc.
7. a person disregarded or shunned by society or a particular group; social outcast: political untouchables.
8. a person or thing considered inviolable or beyond criticism: such untouchables as Social Security in the federal budget.

as far as the adjectives, it's pretty self explanatory. But the noun usage, brings up quite a few topics... for instance the Hindu belief that someone "lower" than you just touching you could defile you. To me that seems a little judgemental and silly, but I also haven't studied the Hindu religion, it may be an important part. the other nouns are very similar...though the most interesting is a person disregarded or shunned by society or a particular group. anyone can be untouchable. those that are homeless, gay, atheist...there are some people who tell their children that other people who don't believe in God are going to hell because they believe in something different or nothing at all. That astounds me. These are the kinds of people who tell their children that if they're gay they will burn in hell. Instead of encouraging their children to find themselves, find what truly makes them happy and live that way. whatever.

What do you think the world will be like in 2050?

I hope that in 2050 we've gotten healthier, and more knowledgeable. I'm afraid that by 2050 we'll be closer to the size of people in wall•e with the intelligence of those in idiocracy. Frightening thought.

What season do you anticipate the most?

What season do you anticipate the most?

I most anticipate autumn. I think it's my favorite season because it's just been an amazing & fun summer, time to be care free and have fun. while spring is usually lauded as the renewal season, I really see that in autumn. For the last fifteen years it's always been autumn when I had that new start. New school year, new semester, new fashion; NEW. plus it's got my two favorite holidays, Halloween & Thanksgiving.

What do you think Victoria's Secret is?

What do you think Victoria's Secret is?

HAHA!! In the beginning, maybe, Victoria's Secret was actually a secret, underground, Lingerie retailer. As for the secret? They're trying to take over the world, one microfiber bra at a time. Controlling women by the promise fo trapping and enchanting a mate, and males by showcasing boobs, butts and sex. The gay community are attracted by the robes and beauty products. There is something there for any & everyone. Honestly though. . .it could have started as these things do, innocent urge to please the general populous, and to get themselves known. thenit got turned into a semi-high scale sex-shop-lite. Money grubbers jacking already 120% raised prices; Marking them down 30% and calling it a sale. making girls and women believe they neeed over priced lingerie to be beautiful instead of helping these women discover and embrace their own natural and inner beauty. UGH.

The thing that makes me happiest

The thing that makes me happiest...

Well, there are a lot of things that make me happy. My friends and family for one thing. They make me really happy. My friends are all really interesting people, who keep life interesting. They're fun people to be around. My family is a no brainer, though i know people who hate their families so i guess it isn't so obvious after all. my family however is very important to me and make me supremely happy. Music is another thing that makes me happy. Ith helps me express myself. I can play music that matches my mood or my pace. I wanna move fast, i put on fast music and i'm off! Performing also makes me happy. being on stage and entertaining an audience gives me this amazing rush and makes me tons happier. plus doing it for school gives me a general gpa boost (lol). reaing and crafting are other things i enjoy. Disneyland is also last but not least in my mini happy list. That's a starter...more to come maybe.

the 25 best things about me are. . .

So I've decided that I want to start a Journal. I have a butt load of journaling prompts and will post their responses here. . .so post the first:

25 best things about me. . .

  1. Ambitious-I like to set really large goals for myself, that way if I fall short, I still have something to be proud of, and more attainable.
  2. Caring- I really care about the people in my life, and how they are treated. I try to make them as happy as I can, and really want to know about them and their life.
  3. intelligent-I'm rather smart, I comprehend things and know a lot of things about random things in life. Like the fact that Luna (a.k.a. the moon) is actually a natural Sattelite, not a planet--neither is Pluto if you were wondering.
  4. creative-I am very creative. I get inspired to create from anything. It could be a purse I'd seen or a t-shirt, whatever I encounter, has me trying to make something like it or something completely different.
  5. glass half full-I see the glass as half full, I look on the bright side of things, or try to most of the time at least.
  6. literate-I am literate. I can read. =)
  7. read-I love to read. So far this summer I've read 14 books so far, totaling 4,535 pages. I have 5 other books started as well.
  8. procrastinator-Unfortunately I've mastered the art of procrastination. I'm working on fixing that, but it's a hard habit to break...hopefully it's something I take care of next year. . .
  9. passive-aggressive-I try not to engage in arguments, i like being passive, means less chance of a fist-fight. . .
  10. warm-I'm a warm hearted human being. I like giving to good people, those who deserve it.
  11. music lover-i absolutely adore music. doesn't matter the genre, I like things with a beat. I really enjoy rock music and show tunes, and want to sing all the time.
  12. art inclined-I really like art and artistry, anything that really showcases creativity. I like going to museums and art shows, like the Pageant of the Masters.
  13. over achiever-I try too many things at one time. I overload my schedule with trying to socialize and learn and help out. It's a lot of things to try to do.
  14. acting- I like acting and watching people act. I love live theater, and would love to make musical theater my profession. singing and dancing and acting is what i love...and what better way to earn a living than by doing what you love?
  15. improvisation-I'm pretty damn good at improvisation. It's a theater activity i enjoy, and on the plus side, when it's not theater related, it helps that i'm really convincing ;)
  16. makeup-I like playing with makeup. If I wasn't going to school for theater i'd be going to school to become a professional makeup artist.
  17. outspoken-I speak my mind about things. Trying to keep it all bottled up doesn't really work for me...I get to a point where I'm bursting with what I want to say. So I just say it. I'm not harsh about things, but if I think it, it's probably getting said.
  18. down to earth-I am incredibly down to earth. I don't think I am something I'm not, I realize just what I am, and am working on embracing that of myself.
  19. open-I am a very open person. Emotionally and otherwise. You won't have to guess with me, I'll let you know!
  20. good to friends-I treat my friends very well. I like helping them out and treating them wel. they're my escape from the 'rents. and as much as i love them, they're starting to drive me NUTS. wanna move out. . .(see #1)
  21. sleep a lot-ok, so I like my sleep. Today is a perfect example. I went to sleep around 3am, woke up around noon, ate lunch, and went back to sleep around 3pm, woke up again around 7:30 pm for dinner and will probably be going to sleep before 1 am.
  22. driving-I like driving. I drive a lot--to Thousand Oaks and back, all around Newport with Heather, all over Orange County for/with various friends. . .it's tons of fun!
  23. calm-ok, so sometimes I'm calm. Others, not so much, but I like my down time, just hanging around with my friends, watching a movie or tv show. . .being laid back
  24. slow burn-i'm not quick to temper. on that same note, i also don't let things go quickly all the time, so it literally is a slow burn of pent up aggression.
  25. dirt bikes-i LOVE dirt bikes and off roading. It's such a masculine sport, but then you get out there and in the spring it's so beautiful...being in nature is ton's of fun.

halfway through summer classes. . .

Here i am, July 27,2009 and I'm sitting on my couch, writing in my blog about how later tonight I have my first midterm at 4 pm. Even though I should be studying for the test on 4.5 chapters. . .or filling out job applications so that i can hve some spending money. I was supposed to get a job at Del Taco, but the lady filled all the spots and has no room on staff to hire me now. . .so i'm a little annoyed about that. otherwise, Life has been pretty quiet. My aunt Elizabeth and her daughter were here for almost two weeks, and left on tuesday. I went to hang out with Sean on Thursday and had lots of fun hanging out with him. I'm also planning on making him dinner sometime next week or so. I made him muffins on Thursday. He really liked them from what I understand =)

more school and such...ttyl.

I really decided this just this week, but I'm committed to it, so, I believe I'll log all the books I read here during the summer, so I can come back and see what I have actually accomplished.

So it's been a while. . .

Two months almost. I do apologize. But truthfully my life has been exciting for the last two months. First of all, I met a boy. He's lovely. He makes me happy, and smile and I have lots of fun with him.

We went to the desert for the second time this year this past weekend. we left on friday (6-19) and got back sunday (6-21). Took Sean with us and he seemed to have a blast, so we're planning on possibly going again later next month or in August. But we got him on the bike and quad and it was so much fun. I took him about half way to blue in on wolfe well road, then to the ranger station on the bike and my quad. we ended up sleeping in a tent friday night but it was too windy saturday night so we slept in the montero. that wasn't too bad, except when we woke up in the morning, it was really warm.

unfortunately still unemployed. =( again, hopefully that'll change soon. But I am back in classes again, and I need to get a good grade on my English Class and the Math class that i'm taking as well as the Web design class. Math and Web Design don't start for another two weeks, and are only 6 week classes, so i'll need to buckle down, and go get my books sometime this week or next.

4.02.2009

same old same old.

not much going on in my life at the moment. . . i apparently use the "u" button on my laptop a lot, since it's starting to not work. . . :(

i'm not taking classes this semester, since my first three got cancelled, and the anthro class was WAY too fast paced (approx 12-16 chs a week [YIKES]). But, i'm TONS closer to finishing my room this time--i've got floor space in over 75% of  my room!!  just waiting on getting more storage space.

Mom's birthday is Sunday.  Very excited for that.  we're doing lots of fun stuff for her.  but won't say anything until after incase she reads this. . .:D

gonna go do laundry now...bye.

3.18.2009

more nothing

So I finally met my first weight loss goal last week.  and am now actually down to 208!  my next goal is 199, and then i think 185 after that. . .:D  I'm hoping to just need to maintain my weight by the summer, although that might be a little quick.  but i really do want to be done LOSING weight by the end of the year, and just need to work on maintaining it.

Other than that not much is going on.  I made dinner last night for st. pattys day.  corned beef and cabbage.  but the cabbage got left in for a little too long :(.  other than that it was good though.

Going to the desert this weekend with Carrie and Randy.  Very excited, haven't been since last thanks giving.  miss it. hope we go some more this year.  that'd be nice.  still looking for a job too. . .oh well.  we'll see how that goes.

not much else of importance.

3.15.2009

life lately

well...life has been a bit uneventful as of late.  just a bit of Disney-ing...and cleaning...ok, so not much of the cleaning.  might go to the desert next weekend.  possibly.  but only as long as i clean up some...so i guess i should.  we'll see.
